Image Generating

One of the assignments for the 23-things is to explore image generating site. Now, I'm 22 and pretty proficient with Tumblr, so this is no new territory for me. But I did manage to find a few themes I had never seen before.

This is me as a super-hero (image based on a simple 10-question quiz):
Create yours here.
Next, I found a website that lets you "sharkify" yourself. But I thought Michael Fassbender would look better as a shark than I would. Seeing as how, you know, he's already one.

Make one of you or another water-predatorial celebrity here.

Then (and this is my favorite) I made a de-motivational poster all of my own.

Do it here (although I had trouble getting my poster to download so I had to use my Windows Snipping Tool to get it).

Have fun!

Quick Edit on Halloween

So, when I made the post about the number of trick-or-treaters we had on Halloween night, only about thirty had come through, but I was still impressed. Little did I know we would have 493 patrons that night.

Four-hundred and ninety-three!

That's probably about a week's worth of patrons all in one night, just to put things in a bit of perspective. We're rarely actually busy here.

Eventually, we ran out of candy - having anticipated maybe fifty kids - and had to put the world's most disappointing sign on the door: "Sorry, we are out of candy. Happy Halloween!"

After that, the chillens stopped coming in. I guess I'm not surprised.

But still - 493 people! Just thought I'd share.

Halloween at the Library

So far we've had no fewer than thirty trick-or-treaters come into the library this evening, and the night is still young! I love Halloween and I love all of the costumes. What a great day to be working for the public.

Henry Higgins got into the spirit. :)
He's a glam witch. Don't judge.

AAaannd... the verdict is in and the bears now have names! Here are Darby and Sawyer dressed as two of my favorite Doctors, Who and Seuss:

How awesome is Halloween?!

Quick Little Craft

I made this cute little corner bookmark in about 5 minutes with some scratch paper that was lying about the library. The best part is, the book he's eating is Frankenstein. I love monsters. (Although, the jury's still out on Frankenstein's creature being the real monster)

Find the template and tutorial here. If you're following the tutorial and want to add teeth, glue them to the underside of the first triangle you fold down. I used the gluestick cap to trace the whites of my little monster's eyes and a hole-punch remnant for the pink irises. The pupils are just black pen.

The List

I've added a page up top called The 23 Things. This is just a complete list of the 23 things I'm meant to accomplish for this blog. The one's I've done are struck through. You probably guessed that much.

Anyway, I also added two link-pages to my Flikr photostream and my Pinterest board for the 23 Things. There's also a playlist.com playlist to the right that I've added music to that I commonly play in the library. Most of it's nerdy stuff, but it's all good. Click them - enjoy them. I hope to keep it interesting.

So, does this count as my post for something technological? I think it does.

First things first

Ok, now this is very important.

This is Henry Higgins, the Library Whale.

That is, a whale that lives in the library. Look for a series of children's books about Henry as soon as I can get myself motivated.

And these are the library bears.
Unfortunately, they don't have names yet. Look to the right and vote for what their names should be. Every black/white same-sex bear couple needs a good set of names!
